SAHAAY – Cooperative Gig Services Platform for Household & Community Services

Inspiration 💡

Our inspiration came from observing skilled workers like electricians, plumbers, carpenters, cleaners, and caregivers who struggle to find regular work and earn a fair income. At the same time, people face difficulties finding reliable service providers. We wanted to bridge this gap by creating a platform that supports workers through a cooperative-based model.

What It Does 🚀

SAHAAY is a digital platform that connects customers with verified household and community service providers. It allows customers to book services easily while helping workers find more job opportunities and earn fair wages. It also provides features like worker verification, online payments, ratings and reviews, service tracking, and an admin dashboard.

How We Built It 🛠️

We designed SAHAAY as a user-friendly platform for customers, workers, and cooperative administrators. The frontend provides an interactive interface for registration, service browsing, booking, and dashboards. The backend manages user accounts, service requests, bookings, and payments, while a database stores the required information. We also planned features like location-based matching, multilingual support, and AI-based demand forecasting to improve efficiency.

Challenges We Ran Into ⚡

One of our main challenges was designing a platform that meets the needs of customers, workers, and cooperative societies at the same time. We also had to consider worker verification, fair pricing, secure payments, and a simple interface for users with different levels of technical knowledge. Another challenge was planning how to match customers with suitable workers efficiently.

What's Next for SAHAAY? 🌱

Our next goal is to make SAHAAY a fully functional and scalable platform. We plan to introduce mobile applications, AI-powered worker matching, demand prediction, multilingual support, secure online payments, and worker welfare features such as insurance and emergency assistance. In the future, we aim to expand SAHAAY to more cities and communities, creating a trusted digital ecosystem that supports cooperative societies and provides sustainable employment opportunities.
