Inspiration

SagaTabi was inspired by a global problem: standard tourist information across most countries is notoriously unclear, overwhelming, and unfriendly to the user. Travelers struggle to find deep, informative, and actionable insights. We wanted to solve this universal friction, using southern Chile as our initial proof of concept, by building a platform that transforms chaotic data into a seamless, clear, and truly user-friendly travel narrative.

What it does

SagaTabi maps and catalogues every single natural point of interest, trail, and hidden gem in a region, breaking away from traditional systems that only focus on major National Parks. It dynamically connects these independent natural attractions with their surrounding ecosystems and geographical roots, structuring individual trips into a smooth, logical sequence of experiences. Additionally, it displays live availability, booking links, and critical safety regulations from a curated network of local service providers.

How we built it

The web platform is currently being developed using Google Antigravity on a local server environment, and we will subsequently build the mobile application to seamlessly link the entire ecosystem together. This setup is paired with a modular database architecture. We are leveraging Google Gemini's advanced models and embeddings to power the semantic search engine and provide highly accurate, cost-effective itinerary recommendations.

Challenges we are running into

Structuring highly fragmented and unstructured data from scattered online sources into a clean, unified database model is our main hurdle. As we analyze and extract data from existing websites, we constantly find that crucial details—such as verified contact numbers, official links, and live prices—are either missing, outdated, or deeply disorganized. Iterating on the user experience (UX) and database relationships within our local environment to make sense of this chaotic digital information without cluttering the screen is a continuous challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of maintaining absolute focus on our core product vision, stepping away from administrative distractions to prioritize a clean, user-centric design in our local development environment. We are proud of conceptualizing a robust, modular database architecture that breaks away from confusing tourist layouts to give independent natural attractions the premium visibility they deserve. Furthermore, defining a clear, actionable strategy to integrate Gemini AI for a friendly and intuitive search experience is a milestone that sets a strong foundation for SagaTabi.

What we learned

We are learning that the key to a successful platform is building with maximum transparency and technical robustness from day one. This solid foundation is essential for allowing us to rapidly scale and add new natural points of interest to the web and the system without friction. Furthermore, we have realized the immense value of unifying fragmented data by creating direct connections to lodging services and local tour agents who offer verified services at these specific points of interest, turning chaotic information into a structured, high-value ecosystem.

What's next for SagaTabi

Our immediate next steps are to complete the robust web prototype on our local server using Google Antigravity and conduct a thorough data survey to extract and organize all available online information (contacts, links, and rates). Following this, we will plan targeted field trips to personally verify locations and gather direct data where web sources fall short. Finally, we will develop the mobile application to fully synchronize the platform and prepare for our commercial launch with an initial cohort of 30 curated local businesses, integrated lodging, and local tour providers.
