Inspiration

Counterfeit drugs and food remain a major health threat across Africa and developing regions — costing lives and damaging trust in healthcare. Many citizens can’t verify what they buy because systems depend on online databases or SMS codes that can be faked. We wanted to create a solution that makes verification trustless, private, and globally accessible and also they are incentivized by earning 5token points per verification that can be exchanged for crypto or services by verifying — powered by zkTLS and XION.

What it does

SafeVerifi lets users instantly verify the authenticity of any drug or food product using zero-knowledge proofs (zkTLS).

The system checks a product’s digital certificate directly from the manufacturer’s source.

It confirms authenticity without exposing private details like buyer identity or full transaction data.

The XION blockchain anchors verification records immutably, ensuring full transparency and tamper-proof history.

Users scan or input a code, and SafeVerifi returns a simple “✅ Verified” or “❌ Fake” response.

How we built it

Frontend: React + Expo for a clean mobile-first experience.

Blockchain: XION smart contracts to record authenticity proofs.

Privacy Layer: zkTLS (Zero-Knowledge Transport Layer Security) for secure, proof-based verification directly from manufacturer endpoints.

Challenges we ran into

Understanding how zkTLS differs from traditional SSL/TLS verification.

Designing a simple UI for a complex cryptographic process.

Simulating drug certificates and authentic manufacturer data in a short hackathon timeframe.
