💡 Inspiration
In today’s world, it is not safe for a person to travel alone at night, especially for women; it is high time to travel alone because a woman is not highly strong as men to protect herself from them. A good way to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of violent crime (robbery, sexual assault, rape, domestic violence) is to identify and call on resources to help you out of unsafe situations. Whether you are in instant trouble or got separated from friends at night and do not know how to reach home, having these apps on your phone can diminish your risk and bring assistance when you require it. In this paper, we present Security Alert an application for smartphones working over the Android platform.
🧠 What it does
The SafetyNest project aims to foster a culture of security and peace of mind by harnessing the power of cutting-edge technologies. By seamlessly integrating location tracking, automated distress messaging, and efficient communication with trusted contacts and local authorities, SafetyNest aspires to revolutionize the way people perceive and experience personal safety. Amidst the dynamic and rapidly evolving technological landscape, SafetyNest acknowledges the vital role of technology in serving a higher purpose - to safeguard lives and foster a sense of security. With SafetyNest incorporated into smartphones, users can carry a proactive and reliable safety companion, vigilant in providing support during times of crisis. At the heart of SafetyNest lies its real-time location tracking capability, continually updating users about their movements. This comprehensive feature, coupled with an intelligent algorithm, enables the app to accurately assess potential threats and emergencies. In the face of such situations, SafetyNest automatically triggers distress messages, promptly notifying a pre-defined list of trusted contacts with the user's precise location. This ensures that immediate assistance can be offered by family members, friends, or colleagues. Beyond its automated alert system, SafetyNest incorporates a one-touch panic button, accessible from the phone's lock screen. This feature guarantees that users can activate a distress signal swiftly, even in high-stress scenarios, ensuring help is just a tap away. SafetyNest caters to diverse safety needs with its unique geo-fencing feature. Users can establish personalized "safe zones" through the app, receiving notifications if they venture beyond these boundaries. This empowers individuals to confidently explore their surroundings while remaining vigilant and secure.
🔨How we built it
We used Java, java-lang, and XML code for creating the front end and SqLite for the back end. As for the editor, we used Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge we face while doing the project is the system requirement. We didn't have the required system to develop the app. Somehow we managed to get our management System for developing the app. The other challenge we ran through is the back-end coding process it little bit difficult for us as we are developing the app for the first time but after reaching some sources we resolved the issue.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team, we are proud of ourselves because we never developed an app. We faced so many difficulties while developing the app but we didn't stop we learned, we tried and we failed but we succeed in developing the app.
What we learned
We learned a new language we learned how to develop an app in android studio. It was so much fun with a team and we earned so much knowledge.
⏩ What's next for SafetyNest
SafetyNest is a project that every woman needs in society. we are going to provide more features for the users in the future.
