Inspiration
Our main inspiration for the game was Dumb Ways to Die and thinking about how we could adjust it to better suit a more child friendly audience.
What it does
What our game does is give the player the ability to explore a simple train station where they would need to wait for their train. During this time, players would be able to interact with NPCs and objects around the station while engaging in potential unsafe actions. If the player did a unsafe action, they would be frozen in place before being shown what they did, why it was unsafe and reset the level from the beginning. The main objective of the game is to successfully navigate through the station and reach your train while avoiding doing any unsafe actions.
How we built it
We developed the game within Unity with the coding done within Visual Studio, 3D modelling done within Blender for the main assets, Fuse for the NPCs, Mixamo for rigging and share our working between each other using the source control software Diversion.
Challenges we ran into
Some issues we ran into during development were the scaling of certain object once moved over to Unity from Blender, creating usable navmesh's for the NPCs that matched to environment, NPC's getting stuck & making progressions either difficult or impossible and the occasional smaller issue that we could quickly resolve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
How we were able to put our ideas together to develop this game, the speed at which we could go through the initial development process and how our end product turned out regardless of its state of completion.
What we learned
Some of the things we have learned from developing the game was using NPC's to populate a otherwise baren environment gives the area more life, how to improve with utilising NPC's within future projects and gaining valuable experience at developing projects within a small window of time.
What's next for the game/concept
We have no plans to continue developing the game and concept further.
Due to working to the wire to complete our idea, we were unable to supply a link to the game itself.
