Inspiration: Kids are taught about safety protocols, for different scenarios, but to have a skill at home that they can turn to on a daily basis
What it does: It tells kids, and adults, how a natural disaster like a hurricane, or a wildfire come about. And what to do if you happen to be in its path, and what to look out for even after its passed
How I built it: With Storyline, and using the documents provided by fema, on how to handle different crises.
Challenges I ran into: How best to make the knowledge available online, more palatable, and easy to follow and remember.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: With the use of Amazon Polly and a little music, I was able to make the kill less of a lesson, and more of a fun listening experience.
What I learned: Safety protocols, though taught by schools, need not be the end-all of preparing kids for natural disasters they may encounter
What's next for Safety Hero: Add more disasters to the roster. Maybe even a quiz following the clips about a particular disaster
