We chose to make an augmented reality application. There are many uses for augmented reality, but we chose to make a very practical application that follows the SDG 3 track: health. The ongoing pandemic inspired us to do something to help our community and the world as a whole.

Our application can be used for anyone who is conscious about staying healthy amidst the current health crisis. Using augmented reality, we can allow all people to visualize social distancing anywhere they want. This easy to use, 1 button app is extremely intuitive and gives anyone with a smartphone the ability to be sure they are safe. We used echoAR to map a circle with a six foot radius onto the ground, and then used Unity to wrap everything up into an application. Anyone else within the circle, dubbed the “Safety Crcl”, is in danger. Easily scalable since don’t need a server, so don’t need more infrastructure to host more people

In the future, we would work on making the ring have more exact measurements. Then, we would like to display the size of the ring in feet, not Unity units. We would also like to increase the consistency of the application on imperfect terrain. We hope to implement these features soon.
