Inspiration

In today's digital age, where children are increasingly exposed to a vast online landscape, parents are turning to parental guidance apps and software to safeguard their children's online experiences. However, the implementation of parental guidance apps introduces a dynamic that can lead to various pain points for children.

With the background and pain points considered, we are thinking, 'How Might We design a solution that enhances online safety for children?' Our proposal is a browser AI-driven plugin specifically crafted to identify and filter inappropriate content on YouTube.

What it does

The plugin operates by preloading videos 2 seconds in advance, allowing it to automatically screen out any unsuitable scenes, ensuring a seamless viewing experience for children without any disconnection. Furthermore, as an added layer of monitoring, the plugin captures screenshots and sends them to parents, offering a comprehensive solution for proactive content filtering and parental oversight.

One significant challenge we encountered during this project was effectively managing our time. Balancing various aspects of the development process, from planning to execution, proved to be a demanding task. As we strived to meet project milestones, time management became a critical factor, requiring careful coordination and prioritization.

Despite the challenges, we're proud to highlight our achievement in developing a comprehensive plan and maintaining a well-organized design file. Our meticulous approach to project organization has been a key factor in ensuring clarity, efficiency, and effective collaboration throughout the development process.

What we learned

What's next for SafeTube

We are planning to conduct usability tests and gather feedback from real users, continually refining our plugin. In the future, we may also introduce additional features to enhance our plugin further.
