Inspiration

Student safety during school transportation is a major concern for parents and institutions. Many existing tracking systems lack real-time intelligence and smart alert capabilities. As an interdisciplinary team from Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML), we wanted to build a practical solution that combines embedded systems with AI-driven monitoring to improve child safety.

What it does

SafeTrack AI is an intelligent child safety monitoring platform that integrates IoT hardware and artificial intelligence. The system uses ESP32, RFID, GPS, and GSM technologies to track students in school transport and send real-time alerts. Parents receive live updates, safety notifications, and multilingual communication through AI-based interaction.

How we built it

The ECE team designed and developed the embedded hardware using ESP32, RFID modules, GPS tracking, and communication interfaces. The AIML team focused on intelligent alert logic, AI integration, and smart monitoring features. Together, we created a hybrid system that bridges hardware reliability with AI-driven insights.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was integrating real-time hardware communication with intelligent software processing. Managing power efficiency, data accuracy, and seamless communication between embedded devices and AI modules required continuous testing and optimization.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully developed a functional prototype that demonstrates real-time child tracking, automated alerts, and AI-enhanced monitoring. The collaboration between ECE and AIML domains allowed us to create a scalable and impactful solution.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained hands-on experience in embedded system integration, IoT communication, AI-based monitoring, and interdisciplinary teamwork. We also learned how to design solutions focused on real-world safety applications.

What's next for SafeTrack AI

Future improvements include a mobile dashboard for parents, advanced AI-based anomaly detection, face verification using ESP32-CAM, and cloud integration for large-scale deployment.
