Inspiration
Since the theme of this hackathon was based on surfing, we created a web app that makes the surfers aware of the weather conditions before going for a surf.
What it does
Makes the surfers aware of the weather conditions before going for a surf at the nearest beach and indicates if it is safe.
How we built it
Built it using Django, fetching weather updates from openweather API and global co-ordinates using Google Cloud's Map JavaScript API.
Challenges we ran into
Finding the accurate conditions that make surfing harder in the sea. Fetching the weather details based on location and transforming the weather data into JSON format.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Helping the surfing community to have a safe surf
What we learned
We learned how to work with APIs and extract data from the response.
What's next for SafeSurfer!
We are thinking to deploy it.
