Inspiration
As college graduates, we have firsthand experience with the challenges surrounding Title IX cases and the need for better support systems on campuses. Working closely with Title IX coordinators has highlighted the gaps between policy and implementation, inspiring us to develop a solution that empowers survivors and streamlines the reporting process.
What it does
9Prep is an AI-powered platform that assists students through the Title IX reporting journey. It helps streamline evidence collection, provides customized next steps based on location, connects users with helpful resources, and supports them emotionally throughout the process. The core features include:
Guided intake form that collects necessary details AI-powered recommendation engine that suggests relevant campus and community resources based on the user's location and case details Secure storage and organization of evidence and documentation Emotional support chatbot to provide a compassionate ear and coping strategies
How we built it
We started by creating a low-fidelity mockup of the 9Prep platform using Miro. This allowed us to ideate on the user flow and key features. We then built a functional prototype using Google's Gemini and Gemma AI technologies. Gemini's natural language processing capabilities power the intake form and chatbot, enabling seamless collection of case details and personalized recommendations. Gemma's machine learning models help analyze case patterns and suggest appropriate campus and community resources. The platform is hosted on the Google Cloud Platform, ensuring secure storage and accessibility for users.
Challenges we ran into
Scaling 9Prep to serve diverse campuses nationwide was a key challenge. We needed to ensure the platform could adapt to different state laws, campus policies, and support services. Integrating Gemini and Gemma seamlessly was also a technical hurdle we had to overcome.

We're proud of the holistic approach we've taken with 9Prep, addressing not only the practical aspects of the reporting process but also the emotional support needed for survivors. By leveraging AI technologies like Gemini and Gemma, we've been able to create a scalable, personalized solution that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
What we learned
Through this hackathon, we've learned how to effectively utilize Google's AI tools, such as Gemini and Gemma, to build solutions that address real-world problems. We've also gained a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding Title IX cases and the importance of empowering survivors with the right resources and support.
What's next for 9Prep
Our next steps are to continue refining the 9Prep platform, focusing on expanding its reach to campuses nationwide. We plan to collaborate with Title IX coordinators, student organizations, and community advocates to ensure the platform meets the diverse needs of students. Additionally, we aim to explore opportunities for integration with campus reporting systems and explore the use of AI-powered predictive analytics to further enhance the platform's efficacy.
