Inspiration

In light of the recent tragedies of Asian Americans and as an Asian woman, I wanted to create a space where communities could come together to process, relate, share, and support one another through difficult times like these.

What it does

The browser based proof-of-concept allows people to come into the space in real time and leave words, pictures, art and view and explore others' words, picutres, art in AR. (Currently, p5 socket connection is working)

How we built it

Initially, I wanted to make an AR mobile app where people could leave words of encouragement, pictures, art in the augmented space for others to view and explore. However, the scope wasn't feasible within the hackathon timeframe so I decided to make a browser based proof-of-concept with some AR features.

Definitely start earlier and maybe find a team (did not have time to do so as I could only start the hackathon very late on Saturday)

What's next for SafeSpace

Continue finetuning the p5 proof-of-concept and include the AR component
Usertest with communities (and validate if an AR mobile app is worth investing in)
Hopefully eventually launch for communities to use and support one another
