Inspiration

How many times have we clicked "I Agree" without reading a single line of the Terms & Conditions?

In today's digital world, most users accept privacy policies and legal agreements without understanding what they are agreeing to. These documents are often long, complex, and filled with legal jargon, making them difficult for the average person to read and understand.

We wanted to solve this problem by creating a tool that makes online agreements transparent, simple, and user-friendly. This idea inspired us to build SafeSign AI.

What it does

SafeSign AI is an AI-powered legal risk analyzer that helps users understand Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policies before accepting them.

Using Google Gemini, the system analyzes legal documents and highlights important information such as:

Hidden risks
Privacy concerns
Data tracking practices
Suspicious clauses
User recommendations

The platform also provides a Trust Score and easy-to-understand summaries, helping users make informed decisions in seconds.

How we built it

We built SafeSign AI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the user interface and integrated Google Gemini API for intelligent document analysis.

The workflow is simple:

The user provides website content or legal documents.
Gemini analyzes the text.
Risks and important clauses are identified.
The system generates a Trust Score, alerts, summaries, and recommendations.
Results are displayed on an easy-to-use dashboard.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was simplifying complex legal language into clear and meaningful insights that anyone could understand.

Another challenge was identifying the most important risks and presenting them in a way that is both informative and easy to interpret.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how AI can be used to solve real-world problems, how to work with Gemini APIs, and how to transform complex information into simple and actionable insights.

We also gained valuable experience in product design, teamwork, problem-solving, and rapid prototyping during a hackathon environment.

What's next for SafeSign AI

We aim to further improve SafeSign AI by expanding website risk analysis, enhancing legal document understanding, and making online browsing safer and more transparent for users.

I built the end-to-end frontend architecture, extension scripting, and AI core for SafeSign AI.

Frontend UI: Coded the responsive dark-themed dashboard using HTML/CSS to make threat metrics instantly readable.

Extension Scripting: Developed content.js to securely scrape and extract dense text layers from active browser tabs.

Gemini AI Integration: Coded the main asynchronous JavaScript logic (popup.js) to route webpage content through the Google Gemini API for real-time analysis.

Security & Git: Successfully bypassed terminal push security firewalls by isolating active credentials locally, maintaining a clean development environment and a professional commit history.
