Inspiration

Our current situation in Italy... Whenever we go out for shopping, we have to wait a big queue before being able to enter the shop. At the same time, the shop owners are losing profits because of the constraints on the maximum people allowed inside the shop.

What it does

The application "SafeShop" should minimize the average waiting time of customers in the queue of a shop and maximize shop owner's profit.

How we built it

The presented demo was built in Matlab.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the constraints on the maximum people for each section was not as straightforward as we tought, since customers can choose more than one section before entering. It took some time before we figure out a solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Each member of the team had its own sub-goals and everyone contributed at the best of its possibilities to the completion of the prototype and the supporting material.

What we learned

The seminars were really interesting and provided us valuable knowledge

What's next for SafeShop

The next step would be the improvement of the code and its interaction with the GUI, which should be improved aswell. The app should be developed for Android and iOS in order to work properly.
