Inspiration
We created SafeSend to help protect individuals from financial scams and phishing attacks. Our goal is to reduce the number of people who lose money or sensitive information to online scams.
What it does
Our app analyzes both links and emails. When a link is entered, our Google Chrome extension uses AI to determine whether it is malicious, provides a detailed explanation of why it may be fraudulent, and automatically blocks access if it is determined to be unsafe.
How we built it
We built it thorugh the help of codex and claude ai, in python, html, and java script.
Challenges we ran into
A major challenge we ran into was creating our own extension that actively checks and blocks malicious links and websites in real time. Another significant challenge we faced was making sure the email for a scam likely transfer was sent instantly to the sender on gmail, where they have to accept or decline it for the transfer to finish.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we created our very own extension and an AI assistant that looks at links, uses data and reasearch to tell you if that link could harm you computer.
What we learned
We learned how to use AI more effectively by giving it clear and specific prompts. This helped us build the website we wanted while using AI as a tool to speed up development and solve problems along the way.
What's next for SafeSend
Changing it from a website to an app, along with securely connecting real bank accounts so that it can be used by actual people.
