Inspiration
Students and daily commuters often travel without knowing which routes are safe, especially during late hours. We wanted to create a solution that helps people make safer travel decisions using technology and real-time information.
What it does
SafeRoute AI analyzes available route data and provides users with a safety score for different travel paths. The application suggests safer alternatives, displays nearby emergency services, and includes an SOS feature for emergencies.
How we built it
- Frontend: React.js
- Backend: Node.js & Express.js
- Database: MongoDB
- Maps Integration: Google Maps API
- AI Analysis: OpenAI/Gemini API
Challenges we ran into
- Collecting and processing location-based data.
- Integrating map services with route analysis.
- Generating meaningful safety scores.
- Building a user-friendly interface within the hackathon timeline.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Developed a working prototype within limited time.
- Successfully integrated maps and AI features.
- Created an intuitive and responsive user interface.
What we learned
- API integration and location services.
- Real-time data processing.
- Team collaboration under tight deadlines.
- Rapid prototyping and problem-solving.
What's next for SafeRoute AI
- Real-time crime and traffic data integration.
