Inspiration
Our inspiration came from listening to all the dangers of using services like Rideshare, and also the dangers of walking alone, especially in the dark. We have seen cases of child and adult abduction. We hope that our app can act as an easily-accessible tool for users in danger or who feel threatened by someone around them.
What it does
SafeRec is an app that can be downloaded onto a user’s phone and used in a time when one feels threatened or needs to act as if they are in touch with someone.
How we built it
We used the coding languages CSS and HTML to code our website. We used GitHub Repositories to organize the code for easier access and use. We designed an app prototype using Marvel.
Challenges we ran into
At first, we struggled to neatly format all of our information into an appealing website, but as time passed, we used different resources to help us learn how to build our code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to create our first website using HTML and CSS as well as use GitHub and Repl.it to store our code. We were also able to use an app prototyping software.
What we learned
We learnt how to code in HTML and CSS which were languages we had not learnt before.
What's next for SafeRec
We hope to build upon the work we have done in this hackathon, and possibly turn this into a fully-functioning app that users can use.
