Inspiration
The inspiration for SafePath came from a heartfelt experience with my friend's parents, who traveled from India not long ago. During our conversations, they shared the difficulties they faced while navigating their journey, and one major challenge stood out: the language barrier. Everything was in English, and it left them feeling confused and uncertain.
This experience sparked the idea for SafePath, a website designed to help travelers, especially those who might not be tech-savvy. SafePath provides guidance in the traveler’s native language, making them feel more at ease. It also offers real-time chat assistance to answer questions and guide them through the process. Additionally, it helps travelers navigate complex environments like airports, ensuring they can find their way through immigration and other areas with ease.
Our goal with SafePath is to make every traveler feel confident and supported, no matter where they are in the world.
What it does
Many travelers struggle to navigate unfamiliar places, especially when they do not have access to a tech-savvy environment or the internet. Existing solutions like Google Maps often require a certain level of technical knowledge, which can be overwhelming for some users.
How we built it
SafePath offers a simple, user-friendly web application that provides: • Step-by-step travel instructions in regional languages. • Voice assistance for hands-free navigation. • Multilingual support for a wide range of users.
Challenges we ran into
During the development of SafePath, we faced the following challenges: • Ensuring seamless integration between multilingual support and voice assistance. • Providing accurate and context-aware translations. • Handling different types of user inputs (voice and text).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
SafePath aims to bridge the gap for non-tech-savvy travelers by providing a straightforward and accessible navigation tool. With its multilingual and voice-enabled features, SafePath can enhance the travel experience and help users navigate safely in unfamiliar locations.
What we learned
We build with people in mind—so anyone can use it, anytime, anywhere.
What's next for SafePath
Future enhancements include: • Adding more languages and dialects. • Enhancing route optimization and real-time updates. • Expanding voice assistance capabilities for various environments (e.g., noisy areas).
