SafePath

We chose to create SafePath because while navigation apps already exist, they primarily focus on speed and distance rather than personal safety. Traditional map services are designed to find the fastest route, but they do not consider factors such as safer streets, isolated areas, or situations where someone may feel vulnerable traveling alone. Similarly, apps like Find My and Life360 offer live location sharing, but they do not provide safety-focused route planning or emergency support during travel. We recognized that many women and other vulnerable individuals face safety concerns when walking alone, whether late at night on a college campus, returning home in a city, or traveling solo in unfamiliar places. In emergency situations, switching between multiple apps for directions, calling 911, texting loved ones, and sharing location can waste valuable time. SafePath brings all of these tools into one platform to make travel safer and more efficient. The app generates optimized safer routes with a safety score, provides an AI companion powered by OpenAI for real-time guidance, includes an SOS center for emergency actions, and allows users to save trusted contacts. During a trip, users can share their live location with selected contacts for the entirety of the trip , and once they arrive, the app automatically notifies those contacts that they have safely reached their destination. SafePath was designed to make every journey as secure, connected, and stress-free as possible.
