## Inspiration The absence of protection surrounding women in even the most mundane, ordinary situations disturbed us more than it motivated. We were driven to build something that would give women in Dallas and ultimately the rest of the world the most safety, convenience, and confidence to just exist in society today.

What it does

Our app offers all the technological resources required for a woman to remain cautious and safe while enjoying a night out in the city. It guarantees the user to act in a way they feel most comfortable in a given circumstance and makes it simple for users to contact emergency services and law enforcement in urgent situations.

How we built it

In order to easily access all options, whether an emergency arises or not, we first sketched out a possible app framework. For time-sensitive circumstances, we concentrated on having primary emergency buttons on the home page, as well as options for safer and more comfortable journeys home, notifications for potentially unsafe locations, and useful cautions from friends or other reliable sources that use the app.

Challenges we ran into

In order to convey the user's location to emergency contacts, we wanted to display the user's distance from potentially hazardous regions and friends nearby. The Google Maps API was the optimal tool to accomplish this, but we found ourselves unsure of the small issues regarding implementation and manipulation of data we received.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The majority of our time was spent using the Google Maps API on the cloud and learning how data transfers between platforms work. After spending several hours trying to implement the API, we discovered the best practices and were able to produce a seamless and simple application.

What we learned

We learnt a lot by using the Google Maps API and modifying the provided data into structures and variables that our audience would use. By really focusing on the functions available on the Cloud and their purposes, we found oursevlves understanding APIs much better than before.

What's next for Safely

Safely is a remarkably simple yet efficient program that can be effortlessly tailored to different situations and places of the world. Our program may readily assist women in other nations with the most significant changes being in the location and Google Maps API.
