SafeJourney For Pandemic

Inspiration

My inspiration started around 2 weeks ago. My dad had to go on a business trip, but he couldn't find any trusted websites which gives all statistics on Covid-19 data. He needed it so he could know if it was safe or not. He kept on complaining that he couldn't find any credible data in a website and he needed a website that had information all in one place! That sparked an idea in my mind. I thought, "What if I could create a website that had information all in one place? Then I forgot about the idea UNTIL now. When I got the news of the Hackathon, I decided this would be the project I would do.

What it does

It helps people who travel often for business trips or other important work. People can go on my website and search up the abbreviation of any state to collect all the data based on counties. This data is updated daily and is available for every county in America.

How I built it

I built it by using various if statements, for loops, and print statements. The if statements would rule out the other counties and only display the ones you searched up. The for loops would loop the function, making it display various times and not just once. The print statements would display. The input statement is where humans can write there state.

Challenges I ran into

In the beginning stages, I couldn't find any information that updates daily and available in CVS format. Multiple times, there would be errors and those would be really frustrating. One time there was a error and my whole project crashed!! So then I had to find out how to get it back. I also had a hard time to display results in different colors.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I achieved my goal and I finished within the deadline..

What I learned

I learned how to gather information and covert it to actual coding. I also learned how to develop a project step by step.

What's next for SafeJourney For Pandemic

I want to integrate my website-SafeJourney- with google maps, as well as hotel booking sites. Through google maps, I want to show COVID-19 cases and statics throughout the route that a person is traveling on.
