Inspiration

Every woman deserves to feel safe, whether travelling, walking alone, or even at home. Growing reports of harassment, unsafe public areas, and delayed assistance inspired us to build a solution that reacts instantly when help is needed. Our motivation was to create a tool that equips women with real-time protection using artificial intelligence — something faster, smarter, and more reliable than traditional safety apps.

What it does

AI Smart Detection – Detects if a woman is alone, surrounded by strangers, or in a risky situation Automatic SOS – Sends emergency alerts if the user cannot act Wristband Trigger – One tap emergency activation

How we built it

  1. Combined AI + Mobile App + Wristband

We integrated AI models (YOLOv8, CNN, LSTM, STT) with an Android app and a Bluetooth wristband to detect danger, trigger SOS, and analyze surroundings automatically.

  1. Created a Real-Time Safety System

We built backend services using Firebase/Python to send emergency alerts, share live GPS location, store user data, and provide instant notifications during emergencies.

  1. Designed and Tested for Real Situations

We tested in different lighting, crowd conditions, and emergency scenarios to ensure reliability, low user interaction, accuracy, and smooth functioning in real-life safety situations.

Challenges we ran into

Reliability – Safety apps must work 100% of the time Accessibility – Not everyone can use complex smartphone apps

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully integrated AI models like YOLOv8, CNN, and LSTM Built a real-time threat detection prototype Designed a wristband-based emergency trigger

What we learned

How to integrate multiple technologies—AI, mobile apps, BLE, GPS Importance of designing systems for real-life emergency behavior Ethical considerations while developing safety applications
