SafeGuard

SafeGuard is a safety-focused navigation application that is inspired by personal experiences of our group members. We shared a common experience of feeling unsafe while travelling alone. To address this, we've crafted a comprehensive solution that goes beyond traditional navigation. We have two core features. First, we integrate real-time criminal data into our navigation system, allowing users to make informed decisions about their routes. However, what sets SafeGuard apart is the ability for users to actively contribute to the safety of the community. Users can drop pins and leave comments in areas where they felt unsafe. This creates a dynamic, user-generated safety map that becomes a valuable resource for others. To ensure the reliability of the shared information, SafeGuard right now is exclusively opened to post-secondary students across the globe.

In the future we hope to expand more functionalities. We aim to add a safest navigation route generator. The algorithm will factor in both criminal data and user-generated pins to calculate the safest routes for users. We also want to listen to feedbacks and expand the user group in the near future.
