Inspiration
Our inspiration was events we had gone through on our campus. When we're walking home we may feel unsafe but aren't able to contact our friends or family because they might be busy or even asleep. Our website let's you feel like you have company without disturbing their loved ones.
What it does
Our website let the user choose from 4 different profiles and let's them engage in a conversation with a "friend". The conversation is a prerecorded from one side so the user just has to respond. This lets them feel more safe and gives them confidence.
Challenges we ran into
Since both of us didn't have any web-development skills, we had to do a lot of trial and error, and debugging.
What we learned
We learned how the three languages, CSS, html, and javascript, work together. In addition, we were able to learn how to manipulate certain elements to do certain actions, playing an audio file.
What's next for SafeforAll
We hope to make an app in the future and implement other features in the app. Our text feature would allow the user to send their location tracking information to a group of their contact using only one select button. In addition, our third feature is alarm which would turn the user's device volume all the way up and play alarm sounds.
