About the Project: SafeChat SafeChat is a conversational AI tool designed to help make Indianapolis — and communities like it — safer and more connected. The project was built for the Chatbots for Public Safety challenge, with the goal of empowering residents with fast, reliable, and friendly access to safety-related help, resources, and reporting tools.
What Inspired Us As someone passionate about technology and social impact, I was inspired by the idea of using AI to improve public safety communication — especially for those who may not feel comfortable calling 911 for non-emergencies. I wanted to create something simple but meaningful that could support people who need quick access to help, mental health tips, or ways to report incidents anonymously.
