Inspiration
Nowadays, house thieves are becoming more aggressive in our neighborhoods and sometimes it is not easy to realize that a possible action can be prevented if we have the right tools to tell us suspicious activities.
What it does
It's a face detection algorithm that is able to tell you how many times a certain person is being detected by a camera. This provides a way of knowing if someone is passing in a place more than usual or if there's something suspicious about it.
How we built it
We developed a web app that shows the user a live feed image from the camera and a table of statistics with the detections made from it.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered challenges in adding the right way of formatting the data to show to the user and handling the connections to the backend of the face detection algorithm.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to finish the first version of the project, we currently are able to make detections every minute and show the live feed image to our users.
What we learned
We learned how to work as a team and learned how to use new technologies to develop our app.
What's next for SafeCam
In the next version, we want to add Auth to allow multiple users access to the service. As well, we want to add alert notifications to let our users be aware of suspicious behavior.
