Inspiration

Illegal wildlife trade (IWT) in wild species and products— ranging from rhino horn and elephant ivory to medicinal plants, timber, shark fins and pangolins—is an urgent global conservation challenge that has escalated dramatically in the last decade Community-level interventions to reduce poaching for IWT have attracted far less attention and investment. Details of how and where community-level interventions should be implemented and how they impact IWT remain vague, with designated resources and implementation, are largely lacking. Therefore, we, ZooMers, are excited to solve this problem by creating a platform of website

What it does

It builds a web to report and provide information about animal trafficking

How we built it

We use platform frontend (reactJS) platform backend (python, django) and mysql, AI;

Challenges we ran into

Shortage of time Not everybody know about website development

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The web is used with user-friendly application and provide handful of features

What we learned

  • Teamwork
  • Project Management
  • Valuable experiences with ZooHackthon

What's next for Safe Wildlife

  • Implement more AI and ML to make use of more data
  • Multi platform from web apps to mobile apps
