As students who just moved to San Francisco for their freshman year, we have experienced how dangerous it is sometimes to walk around the city, especially near Mission and Tenderloin areas. Since day 1, we are told to be careful and walk in groups to be safe. Statistically, there were reported more than 1000 crimes in those two regions during September 2019 according to sanfranciscopolice.org. But how can we help our community to feel safer while being also time-efficient (we are students after all)? In order to solve this problem within not only our community but also for the whole city, we have worked during this weekend on the Safe Walk web app.
