## Inspiration

Nowadays, travelling safe has become increasingly popular due to COVID restrictions being lifted. This may mean a rise in more people travelling alone. For women, this is a big concern, especially since crime rates differ from country to country. This means precautions must be taken.

## What the App does

Safe travellers allow a user to see other people's experiences in certain countries and what they suggest people should do. By creating forums, everyone gains points. This creates a community spirit as the points then go towards an organisation called UN women. This organisation promotes gender equality, so by sharing experiences, not only can you help others travelling, but also help others in need. There is also a section that allows you to upload recordings and listen to them.

## What I used to build it

I used python django to build it. In this hackathon, I learnt how to build a forum in Django as well as how to create a system that uploads videos. Django also allowed for an extremely smooth user experience.

User Experience

User experience was always at the top of my mind as I created this app. I chose a yellow-red colour scheme due to the fact that the amount of contrast would make it clearer for the user, as well as remain aesthetically pleasing.

## Difficulties

My most difficult task was the forum. At first, I wanted to make it so that the names of the forums appeared in a sidebar and after spending hours on refining that idea, I realised that it would be a much more user-friendly experience if I do what I currently did.

## If I Had More Time

If I had more time, I would have liked to use OpenCV to detect sign language, but I found it a difficult task to implement openCV within Django.
