Inspiration
Students in colleges sometimes can miss non-academic activities while studying . Our projects SAFE involves the non-academic needs of a college students like:
- Stores for buying old items of seniors
- Activities for checking club activities going in college
- Feed for checking feed of college
- Election for election purpose of college
Our main motive is to bring all the co-curricular activities of the together and fulfill the common need of college students.
What it does
Our project is a web-based application aimed at helping the college students community in a unique way. For students searching for any old used book/item or checking club activities around the campus or voting for college elections is where our web application SAFE comes to play.
This way, the app not only creates a sense of community but also increases the co-curricular activities along with fulfilling common needs of college students.
Users can create accounts, upload their own profile and check feed about college along with activities about college going around in the clubs. Furthermore if a student needs something from a senior like book/cycle, he/she can buy it second hand on the store section. User can also vote for their elections for coordinators.
How we built it
- We used Figma to create a simple wireframe of the website.
- We built our website using the ReactJs,Nodejs,MongoDB,ExpressJs(MERN)
- We collaborated via GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
As all members of our team are beginners and none of us had a lot of experience with Node.js/Backend and react, taking up this project was pretty challenging.
One of the biggest challenges was collaborating on one project along with four three people. However, we were able to divide up tasks. We hung out on Google Meet to talk about any problems we ran into and shared our thoughts and random ideas as well.
We ran into several issues while coding and pushing code to repositories, which we solved using screensharing on gmeet
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to develop a full-stack app with most of of the functionality we had planned on achieving and had the greatest fun while trying to come up with solutions to the issues we ran into!
What we learned
- As none of the team members had much knowledge of React, we learnt quite a lot about the technology by jumping right into building something like . -We also learned about the importance of time-management and collaboration since we're from different states and the hackathon was virtual.
What's next for SAFE
we will host the site on SAFE.com and will propose this to institutions for further use where students can build their profile and then they are ready for using the best portal for non-academic activities.
