Inspiration
This project inspired me as they have happened in the long of time what we already know as earthquakes that unfortunately took many lives, this project would be the solution to that problem as it can issue an alarm at the time that happens so they can look for a safe place quickly.
What it does
This site can send an alarm at the time of an earthquake so that people can look for a safe place until such situation passes, also it sends a tsunami alarm, a chat bot, and some buttons to call directly to emergencies and the fire department.
How we built it
We built Safe from Earthquake using a combination of modern web technologies to create a fast, reliable, and user-friendly emergency response system.
HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript were used to design a clean and responsive interface accessible on both desktop and mobile devices. Leaflet.js was implemented for real-time location tracking, allowing users to share their coordinates with rescue teams instantly. Geolocation API provides accurate positioning to detect movement or shaking and alert users. Audio API and JavaScript logic trigger alarms during detected emergencies. The system includes an emergency button that notifies authorities and plays a safety alert sound. All features were designed to function even in low-connectivity areas, ensuring accessibility and safety during natural disasters.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges integrating real-time geolocation with the alarm system, ensuring it worked accurately on both mobile and desktop devices. Another difficulty was optimizing performance for low internet areas while keeping the app simple and responsive.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a functional emergency alert system that detects earthquakes and notifies users instantly. We also integrated safety instructions, emergency contacts, and an accessible design — making the app both educational and life-saving.
What we learned
Realize this website by Github was an innovative and excellent experience I learned some data and programming languages, but the most important thing is that with this project I will save and help future lives and that is the real prize of my effort.
What's next for Safe from Earthquake
We plan to enhance the system with real-time data from seismic sensors and AI-based alerts. Our next steps include adding multi-language support, offline access, and partnerships with local emergency organizations to expand global reach and save more lives.
