One day, my mom and I walked into a mall. We saw a Q.R. code advertisement on the wall that had a coupon for 80% off in JC Penny. Hard to comprehend this once-in-a-lifetime deal, my mom scanned the link and went to the website. Immediately a virus downloaded on her computer, and it turned out the website wasn't JC Penny's but a malware one. So, I set out to build Safe Scan, an android application that checks if a url is safe or not. First, the app opens up a Q.R. code scanner that scans a Q.R. code with a url. Then, the app checks if the url is malware or not by implementing the Google Safe Browsing Lookup API. Then, if the url is safe, the app will suggest opening it up in a browser and if it is not safe, it will warn the user. The product is targeted towards women that like shopping at malls and like great deals (pretty much every lady). These women will greatly benefit from my product due to added security enhancements. I am very thankful to the Safe Browsing API as this makes up the key features of my app.
