Inspiration

Let's talk about Sarah’s safar to her office on SWVL, her everyday office route is 1 hour long, and it is hard to pass this time, she is someone who likes getting to know people but the person sitting next to her is not very talkative and also because they have their masks down, she feels anxious due to the entire covid situation. Hence, our solution Safe Safar aims to mitigate these factors to make their riding experience hassle-free.

What we learned

During the whole hackathon, we learnt how to use our time and resources efficiently to maximize our throughput. It also helped us to learn to find workarounds to different constraints and problems that we faced while building the project. It inculcated problem solving skills and design skills.

How we Build the Project

Because of the time constraints, we chose the frameworks which could speed up our development process and we could develop and end to end product. For the frontend, we selected AngularJS and Bootstrap. For the backend, we selected Django, and Django Rest Framework. Since this was not a production-ready application we chose a lightweight database SQLite.

Challenges we faced

We were not able to incorporate tests and validations due to the lack of time. Hence, we assumed that the data sent back and fro is always valid. We also weren't able to follow best practices for the Rest Framework, but in order to scale our application, we can make use of better database and service-based architecture in the future.
