SAFE or SAFE Skills

Student Athlete Financial Education (SAFE) provides collegiate student-athletes with the personal finance skills necessary to navigate their post-graduate careers safely and securely. By using the real monetary value of their scholarship, SAFE's App will enable student-athletes to build daily personal finance habits through a "Bill Payment" function and learn about Saving, Investing, and Giving through a "Choices" function. Educational information, tips and guidance will accompany the user as they navigate the application. Ramifications of decisions and actions will result in notifications, alerts, and other negative and positive consequences that mirror the exprience they will face once they graduate and take full ownership over the financial futures. This group and the experiential model of the application will be used as a model that will raise awareness in other sub-populations. The ultimate goal will be for the SAFE App and its methods to be duplicated for use to build larger communities of financially capable citizens.
