Inspiration
The inspiration for Safe Circle came from a desire to enhance personal safety in everyday situations. Whether walking home late at night, traveling alone, or facing unexpected emergencies, we wanted to create a tool that provides immediate support and peace of mind.

How we built it
We built Safe Circle using React Native for cross-platform compatibility, ensuring a seamless user experience on iOS devices. Google Firebase provides a robust backend for real-time data handling and authentication. We used Expo to streamline the development process and facilitate rapid testing. The Google Maps API enables precise location tracking, and we integrated contact sync functionality to make it easy for users to connect with their trusted contacts.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was integrating Google Maps into the app, which required careful handling of API calls and ensuring smooth performance across devices. Syncing contacts was another hurdle, as it involved managing permissions and ensuring data integrity. Additionally, linking Expo Go with React Native and running the iOS simulator presented technical difficulties that required thorough troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a robust and user-friendly app that enhances personal safety. Successfully integrating real-time location tracking, efficient contact syncing, and achieving a balance between functionality and performance were significant accomplishments. Positive feedback from initial users has been highly encouraging.

What's next for Safe Circle
Looking ahead, we have several exciting plans for Safe Circle. We aim to introduce voice-activated emergency alerts, allowing users to initiate help requests even when they cannot access their phones directly. Additionally, we plan to incorporate advanced analytics to provide users with safety insights and recommendations based on their routines and locations. Expanding our user base and collaborating with local authorities and organizations for enhanced community safety are also on our roadmap. Our ultimate goal is to continually innovate and provide the best possible personal safety tool for our users.
