Safe and sound

Inspiration

Women fear going out in their own neighborhood hood too. That is how severe the case of crime against women is. This website was inspired by my parents telling me not to go out because they didn't know if the area was safe or not.

What it does

We compile crime data according to the postal/zip code of an area since every area has one. This data reveals crime related informative statistics such as 'crime rate' ,'crime against women', 'major crime', 'minor crime' and 'crime casualties' under the free version and detailed analysis such as 'crime date', and it's case study in the pro version. Since all of this is public information According to the national crime bureau, it is accessible to public.

How we built it

I built this prototype in typedream as I am just a beginner in coding. I would love to thank codetivate for being beginners friendly.

Challenges we ran into

Some things like adding a searchbar and adding URLs to the buttons was a long task, but I was able to resolve it eventually.

The biggest challenge is that I cannot open the whole website in typedream as that requires a subscription so I hope that you consider the prototype which is in the video.

What we learned

I learnt that if kne has passion and aptitude for coding, they can easily do wonders with it. So excited to get inspired by other projects!

What's next for Safe and sound

A thorough research about the feasibility of this website and if there is a market, we may launch it in a few years.
