Safarnama – Your Weekend Travel Finder"

Safarnama (meaning travelogue) is a weekend travel discovery app that helps you find nearby getaways that match your vibe, budget, and group type — all in one smooth, single-page experience.

Inspiration

I'm a travel enthusiast and love to explore new places each weekend, and that a tough task to find new places to visit each time and there are not tools as such to ease this process. That's how I got this project idea.

How we built it

  1. Built entirely with Bolt.new in a single prompt
  2. Frontend stack: React + TypeScript, styled using Tailwind CSS
  3. Icons from Lucide React, routed via react-router-dom
  4. Fully responsive, micro-interactive UI
  5. Custom data structure with 45+ experience entries
  6. Deployed live on Netlify

What It Does

  1. Explore popular nearby destinations visually
  2. Personalize trips by mood, group, budget, and distance
  3. Save experiences to a trip list
  4. Get dynamic trust signals like “3 friends visited recently”
  5. View rich modal-based destination details and reviews

What We Loved

Bolt’s prompt-first development made prototyping super fast and fun. Writing a prompt felt like writing a spec — and watching it come to life was honestly magical.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Designing a beautiful UI with good UX inside one prompt was tricky
  2. Have to think and try multiple times before coming to that single prompt
  3. Voice feature was planned but dropped due to some issues

What We Learned

  1. Prompt engineering matters — the more specific, the better the result
  2. One prompt can go a long way with Bolt
  3. Small UX tweaks make a big difference
