Liquid crystal materials have the ability to transmit the incident light with different speeds, depending on their orientation and the location of the defects. The color of transmitted light can be therefore optimized if we tune the physical properties of liquid crystal material and/or external stimuli, such as temperature, surface tension and cell thickness. In this presentation, we will see that there is a highly-linked connection between the liquid crystal (microscopy) textures and the geometry of modern fashion patterns.
