Inspiration
As a bunch of young students, we learned that money is one of the most important things EVER to be comfortable with. To navigate life better and even help other people our age, we wanted to create something that knows the user in and out and will help them become financially comfortable and confident.
What it does
Taking a rough estimate from the user's income, LIFELine will inform the user what they can do to better themselves financially. This will include things like how to budget, how to build better credit, manage investments, etc.
How we built it
Using the knowledge we had, our team first created a Figma project detailing the logistics and specifics of what we wanted to do and what we hoped to accomplish. From there using replit we decided to use what little knowledge we had to implement this idea. By integrating user data, potentially from resources like the Federal Reserve, LIFELine provides actionable financial improvement recommendations.
Challenges we ran into
There are a lot of laws that we have to be aware of; ie complex financial regulations. We realized that the software behind what we thought of would be a LOT harder than we imagined.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of ourselves for figuring out what to do and really detailing our steps one by one. If we had not done so we would have been more lost not knowing what we were designing. Given the time period, we did what we could and even managed to get a little bit of code written detailing how we would go about making the software.
What we learned
Hackathons are a great experience(first time for all of us) and the software behind the product is really hard to make. It would be best for you to have a team and have an idea before the hackathon as it saves you A LOT OF TIME.
What's next for LIFELine-HungryHackers
We hope to transfer this into a mobile app that uses data analytics to personalize financial plans.
