Inspiration

The inspiration for Saathi Health came from witnessing the growing gap between advanced AI technology and accessible healthcare. This project became deeply personal after I lost my grandfather, who spent over a month in the hospital. My family and I struggled to make sense of his medical records, prescriptions, and treatment instructions. That experience showed me firsthand how overwhelming and confusing healthcare can be—especially for elderly patients and their families who just want clarity, comfort, and guidance.

“Saathi” means companion in Hindi, reflecting my vision to create an AI healthcare partner that brings advanced technology directly to those who need it most—making health insights feel accessible, personal, and trustworthy.

Discovering Bolt.new gave me the chance to prove that with the right tools, it’s possible to rapidly prototype a full-featured, human-centric healthcare platform that truly makes a difference.

What it does

Saathi Health is an AI-powered healthcare companion for elderly users and their families. It simplifies healthcare by letting users:

Upload medical records or prescriptions and instantly receive easy-to-understand explanations, both in text and as a talking video avatar (via Tavus).

Check symptoms and get actionable guidance, powered by Google Gemini AI.

Listen to health advice in natural speech with ElevenLabs.

Manage, organize, and search health records securely (Supabase).

Book doctor consultations and track upcoming appointments.

Share access with family members for support and oversight.

The app bridges the gap between advanced AI technology and real, everyday healthcare needs, making medical insights accessible, friendly, and trustworthy.

How we built it

Frontend: React 18 + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS + Framer Motion for a modern, responsive, and accessible user interface.

Backend: Supabase (PostgreSQL, authentication, storage) for secure data, file uploads, and user management.

AI Integrations:

Google Gemini for symptom analysis and natural language health explanations.

Tavus for personalized AI video avatar explanations.

ElevenLabs for text-to-speech (audio summaries).

Tesseract.js for OCR processing of uploaded medical documents.

Platform: Built rapidly using Bolt.new’s AI-powered development tools and deployed on Netlify.

Security: Enterprise-grade Row Level Security (RLS) ensures user data privacy.

Challenges we ran into

Multi-AI Integration: Coordinating four different AI services, each with unique APIs, rate limits, and potential error modes.

Real-Time Video Generation: Tavus video creation can take several minutes, so we had to design clear feedback and background processing for users.

Healthcare Data Privacy: Ensuring all personal health information is secure and that AI guidance is always accompanied by clear disclaimers.

Designing for the Elderly: Creating an interface that is friendly, reassuring, and accessible across all devices.

API Credit Management: Managing free API limits for AI video, voice, and analysis, while providing fallback options when limits are reached.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

End-to-End AI Experience: Users can go from uploading a prescription to watching a friendly AI doctor explain it, all in one seamless flow.

Real-World Impact: The project was inspired by my own family’s struggles with understanding medical information, especially when my grandfather was hospitalized. Saathi Health transforms that challenge into a practical, accessible solution for others.

Robust, Production-Ready Architecture: Implemented secure authentication, real-time data updates, and strong privacy protections using Supabase and RLS.

Rapid Prototyping: Built a full-stack healthcare platform with advanced AI features in just days, thanks to Bolt.new and modern AI APIs.

Graceful Fallbacks: If any AI service is unavailable or out of credits, the app gracefully falls back to text or audio- never leaving users confused or stranded.
