As a developer who's always exploring new AI tools and building projects, one of the biggest challenges I constantly face is coming up with and validating solid SaaS ideas. I know I’m not alone in this—many developers and builders spend a huge amount of time just trying to figure out if their idea is worth pursuing, rather than actually building. So during the Bolt.new hackathon, I set out to solve this exact problem by creating a tool that I personally wish I had: the SaaS Idea Validator.

The tool is simple but powerful. It allows anyone to input their idea and get a fast, AI-generated validation—market fit analysis, monetization suggestions, and potential user segments. The goal was to give makers a faster way to test their thinking and avoid wasting time on ideas that don’t stick.

I built it solo, under pretty tough circumstances. My computer was extremely slow, crashing often, and I didn’t have the money to pay for premium APIs. So I leaned on open-source tools like DeepSeek and made prompt engineering my secret weapon. I learned how to craft smarter prompts, save tokens, and split complex questions into smaller parts to get better results. I also had to push myself to improve the UI as much as possible with what I had. Eventually, I got the project live and running on a domain I purchased—it may not be perfect, but it works, and it’s public.

There were tons of challenges—technical issues, no budget, and the steep learning curve of building something end-to-end with limited resources. But despite all that, I’m really proud of what I’ve managed to pull off. I turned an idea into a live tool that solves a real problem for people like me. And even if I didn’t win the hackathon, the experience alone has been a huge win.

I learned a lot, not just about prompt engineering and AI, but also about focus, resilience, and building lean. I now have a project I can grow after the hackathon. I plan to add features like saved validations, user logins, market scoring, and maybe even community-driven feedback.

Finally, I just want to say thank you to the entire Bolt.new team. This hackathon gave me the motivation and opportunity to build something real, despite every obstacle. It's been an amazing experience, and I'm truly grateful for it.
