Inspiration

Every 45 seconds, a Thalassemia patient in India requires a blood transfusion. Yet many families struggle to find matching blood on time, while donors remain unaware of the urgency. We were moved by stories of parents rushing hospital to hospital, dependent on WhatsApp groups or last-minute calls. What if technology could be the “Saarthi” — the guide — that connects patients, donors, and doctors in real-time? That spark became our mission: to build an AI-powered, proactive blood and care network that saves lives before crisis hits.

What It Will Do

Saarthi is a smart, AI-powered platform that reimagines how India supports Thalassemia patients by connecting all the right people at the right time. Here's what it will offer:

🩸 Real-Time Blood Matching System Match Thalassemia patients with nearby compatible donors instantly using AI, geography, and donation history.

📆 Predictive Donor Engagement ML models will forecast donor availability and send intelligent nudges to encourage recurring donations.

🎮 Gamified Donor Loyalty Program Introduce “HeartPoints,” badges, and impact visualizations to make donors feel valued and stay committed.

🧠 AI Health Assistant & Education Bot A multilingual chatbot will educate patients & caregivers on Thalassemia management, schedules, and connect with doctors.

🔗 Integration with e-RaktKosh & Blood Bridge Saarthi will act as a wrapper around these systems to streamline requests, ensure visibility, and close the loop.

How We Plan to Build It

We envision a modular, scalable architecture:

Component Technology (Planned) Frontend (App + Web)- Flutter (for Android, iOS, and Web) Backend -Node.js + Express.js AI Chat Assistant- OpenAI / LangChain (multilingual, health-focused) Donor Prediction Engine- Python + Scikit-learn or TensorFlow Real-time Communication - WebSockets + Firebase Cloud Messaging Data Integration- REST APIs with e-RaktKosh / Blood Bridge Security & Privacy- AES-256 encryption, Blockchain-lite ledger, JWT Auth Analytics Dashboard- Metabase or Superset

⚠️ Challenges We Foresee

Challenge Mitigation Strategy Donor Drop-off Gamification + AI reminders to maintain engagement Data Privacy Regulations Consent-driven model, data encryption, anonymization Rural Connectivity Issues SMS + offline-first support Integration with Govt Systems Start with scraping or manual bridge, then seek API access

What Makes This Idea Stand Out

🎯 Laser-focused on Thalassemia needs, not just general blood donation

🧠 AI-driven prediction & personalization at every step

🧩 Builds upon, not replaces, existing systems (e-RaktKosh, Blood Bridge)

💓 Designed to scale with community, emotion, and engagement at the center

What We Hope to Learn

As we build Saarthi, we want to explore:

How can we influence human behavior (e.g., donors) using nudges, design, and gamification?

What’s the best way to scale a healthcare product in semi-digital India?

How do we earn the trust of families, hospitals, and NGOs in a sensitive ecosystem?

What’s Next for Saarthi

✅ Develop clickable prototype (UI/UX)

✅ Implement dummy ML model to simulate donor prediction

✅ Build basic chatbot that answers Thalassemia FAQs and do's and dont's
