Inspiration
LearnEx is inspired by the flipped classroom concept, where students can view the class material before the lesson itself, and this arms them with focused questions and some background knowledge. LearnEx is similar in that it helps the juniors, who haven’t attended the lecture, to know what are the misconceptions and problems of their seniors, who have posted questions.
What it does
LearnEx is built for anonymous communication. This allows students who may feel uncomfortable asking questions in person, to freely ask questions online and receive support without fear of scrutiny and judgment. Students can prepare for tougher topics prior to lessons with the resources provided on LearnEx. This allows students to gain insight on significant ideas to focus on as well as clear their doubts and have their queries answered, be it online or in person.
Teachers can also read through the various questions and answers and be more aware of what students generally have a hard time with. This allows them to adapt and enhance future lectures or tutorials to suit the needs of students and help them to gain a better understanding more effectively. On LearnEx, teachers can even give their own star of approval to exemplary answers! Never again will students get lost and frustrated from lagging behind or not understanding school material. With the support of the online community, consisting of both experienced seniors and teachers, learning will be much more effective than ever before, allowing grades to soar!
How we built it
Using VisualCode, we coded out the different HTML pages and linked them together, styling it with various CSS modifiers.
Challenge we ran into
Our biggest challenge was our lack of experience due to this being our first hackathon. It was tough constantly hitting into blocks where our code wouldn't work or the format of our page could not fit properly.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
Despite the many challenges along the way, we successfully build a website that we are happy with within a day, we are glad to see the progress we have made throughout this hackathon.
What we learned
We are a bunch of students with little to no experience in web development so we had to learn from experience on HTML, CSS, and javascript with constant trial and error, which allowed us to build this project.
What's next for S23(088)
In the future, we hope to continue down this path of growth as we keep on learning about the different facets of web development. We believe that once we are better equipped to code and design web pages, we will be able to come back stronger in our next hackathon.
