Starting college, there were multiple talks about mental health due to the large amount of college students that suffer with it daily. To combat this, we decided to make ReMap.

What it does

ReMap has a Map that shows the locations of other people (anonymous) who suffer with mental health problems. We felt that many people forget that they are not the only one's suffering.

How we built it

We used a startbootstrap template to create the main website. Then, we used html, javascript, php, and css to make a multiple sign up and login pages. Also, we used these languages to attach a Map API (open layers) to the website. Finally, we made a database to store the names, emails, location, username, and passwords of participants using MySQL.

Challenges we ran into

We had difficulties connecting the backend to the frontend due to time constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the amount of work we completed. Both of us did not have much experience working with html, javascript, php and css before starting the project; however, by the end, we have a better understanding of these languages.

What we learned

We learned html, javascript, php, and css. Additionally, we learned the difficulties of making a website and connecting it to the backend. Also, we learned the importance of team work and communication.

What's next for ReMap

In the future, we plan to add people to the map right after they sign up. Also, to add a program that will email people in close proximity and ask if they are willing to meet to talk to somebody going through similar experiences they are.
