S-Bob Loan (Mkopo) Origination

Inspiration

S-Bob Sacco won the HttF 2021 competition, with that momentum we would like to provide the Loan Origination (Mkopo= Swahili) as an addition to the S-Bob app capabilities to provide low interest loans to the Mathare people and invest in sustainable industries.

What it does

The S-Bob Loan Origination portion of the app would use the Finastra Trust Machine OpenAPI's to provide low interest loans to the Mathare people, while using the S-Bob Regeneration Fund to provide some of that loan interest back to the S-Bob Entrepreneurs. As an S-Bob Loan member you would recieve the option to sell on the S-Bob app the the S-Bob Members.

How we built it-

We would add to the OpenAPI's from FFDC that we used for S-Bob Sacco, to combine with the TrustMachine OpenAPI's to provide loan servicing and applications through S-Bob app.

Challenges we ran into-

We ran into such challenges as language barriers, electricity and internet connectivity, lack of knowledge how to work mural.

Accomplishments that we're proud of-

Finding a way to do the ideation portion with little help but from 1 mentor, Combine our 5 ideas into 3 viable solutions, and figure out how to do research on the internet.

What we learned-

We learned what OpenAPI's were, what a Circular Economy was and how to use sustainable methods to produce commonly used items in the slum.

What's next for S-Bob Loan (Mkopo) Origination

S-Bob Loan Origination will need to involve a team from TrustMachine Finastra and S-Bob Entrepreneurs to decide the UI, the capabilities and make sure we are following all loan regulations.
