Inspiration

Each member in our group comes from an immigrant family that has struggled to fit in the US. With the significance on medications and healthcare, we decided to aid numerous individuals who struggle daily, and taking that into account, we decided to solve just one of their many problems that they face.

What it does

We created an app that can aid millions worldwide that instantly translates prescriptions to over 10 languages. Take a photo of the prescription, and our app will detect the text, detect the language, and provide an accurate translation with medication details, dosage, and instructions.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS, JS to make the website. Then we used Terrasect.js's library to use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to allow our app to detect the text and language of the prescription.

Challenges we ran into

Incorporating Google Cloud Translate API was a challenge we ran into due to its requirement of payment and billing information.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created a secure translation platform that breaks language barriers in healthcare, ensuring accurate prescription translations, improving patient safety, and enhancing global accessibility.

What we learned

I learned how to use API keys as well as the significance and importance of collaboration and teamwork.

What's next for RxTranslate

Next for RxTranslate, we aim to expand our language support, integrate voice-to-text prescription translation, and enhance AI accuracy. In addition, we plan to partner with healthcare providers and pharmacies to further strengthen our accessibility and improve patient outcomes globally.
