RxCast

Inspiration

We want to provide health professionals a way to ease their job while reducing the amount of lives lost due to drug shortages

What it does

RxCast predicts Oseltamivir shortages based on Pittsburgh weather data, illness rates, and shortage rates

How we built it

We trained an XGBoost model to output a 7 day dispensation forecast which is compared to the current stock of the drug which then recommends a purchase order if the drug is at risk of being in a shortage

Each of us delivered on our responsibilities and being first time hackers, we worked together to deliver a great project we are proud of

What we learned

It is important to adapt to issues whenever they arise and find smart ways to work around them

What's next for RxCast

We hope to keep working to expand to other drugs and ensure that shortages do not hold back health professionals from giving the best care
