Inspiration

This project was inspired by shows like Squid Game, American Ninja Warrior and Wipeout! We have taken ideas from other obstacle course games to create one epic 5-course challenge!

What it does

The game features 5 courses that test the players accuracy, patients, skills, and memory! Each course is tougher then the previous!

How we built it

We built a few of the 3d models using the GenAi feature inside the Meta Horizon Desktop Editor. A few scripts for each courses were built using the GenAi feature as well, such as the logic for course 2 that has spinning fans that hit and push players on collision. The music and sfx came from a mix of public assets from Meta, and some from royalty free platforms.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest toughest part was ensuring the level of difficulty was not too high, I am an experienced mobile and pc player so doing the courses to me eventually became easy but not everyone has the same experience so ensuring each course was difficult but not impossible was a challenge, we had many people test the courses and adjusted the speed and force of each obstacles object till we got a fair and challenging results for players!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have built the game quickly and making the game loop short and fun! Mobile players can expect a short but challenging game loop, with each course being just challenging to be interesting! The experience is also fun on pc and vr!

What we learned

This was our first world! So we learned a lot, and found that the desktop editor was great and with the use of GenAi we were able to quickly generate new ideas and test out different 3d models. This was also the first game we have built so we learned a lot about how we should handle player respawns and that sfx and vfx can make the game feel more alive!

What's next for Rush and Tumble.

We hope to add more courses via a second and potentially third level, along with adding a timer and leaderboard for players to compete with each other! We have also been thinking about creating other worlds such as a world for people to debate random topics generated via an llm agent! We are excited for the future of Meta Horizon Worlds!
