💡 Inspiration
We were inspired by the incredible resilience of rural caregivers in China—parents, grandparents, and early childhood facilitators who care deeply for their children but often lack localized, accessible learning resources. We wanted to bridge this gap with technology that feels warm, human, and empowering.
💻 What It Does
Qiantian App 2.0 transforms caregiver learning into a personalized, community-driven experience. It delivers bite-sized educational videos, gamified rewards, community sharing, AI-assisted feedback, and data dashboards that motivate caregivers and track progress—helping children grow healthier and happier.
🛠️ How We Built It
We combined behavioral insights with user interviews from rural Yunnan, co-designing with caregivers and facilitators. The workflow integrates mobile UX redesign, AI chatbot development, and gamified content architecture, supported by data visualization and community engagement modules.
🚧 Challenges We Ran Into
Translating complex early-childhood content into 1-minute micro-learning clips. Designing for low-connectivity rural environments. Balancing personalization with data privacy and ethical AI use. Coordinating across product, AI, and social impact perspectives within a short timeframe.
🏆 Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
Created a scalable and localized learning model tailored for rural caregivers. Built a prototype workflow and UI concept integrating AI, gamification, and community learning. Designed a dashboard system for facilitators to visualize caregiver engagement. Strengthened cross-disciplinary collaboration between tech and social impact fields.
📚 What We Learned
Technology adoption grows when solutions are empathetic and culturally rooted. Short, interactive, and emotionally supportive content drives engagement better than long lessons. AI in caregiving education should focus on guidance, not replacement—enhancing human connection rather than automating it.
🚀 What’s Next for Qiantian App 2.0 — Smarter, Closer, More Caring
Next, we aim to pilot the app in Hubei Province and scale up to broader rural areas in China, add AI video analysis for personalized feedback on caregiver-child interactions, develop a facilitator filter dashboard for targeted support, and partner with universities and NGOs for impact evaluation and scaling.
