## Inspiration

Rural communities in Nigeria often experience a complete lack of electricity due to the inaccessibility or inefficiency of the national grid. In areas where communities are equipped with their own generation facilities—typically small-scale hydro systems—they still suffer from severe frequency deviations. This is primarily due to the absence of trained professionals to operate and manage the control systems of these power stations.

Seeing this recurring issue, I was inspired to develop a system that could replicate the critical decision-making of a professional operator. The goal was to provide real-time insights and control support to whoever is in charge of the power station at any given moment—regardless of their technical background.

## How the Project Was Built

As someone with no background in programming and without access to structured learning opportunities, this idea remained dormant in my mind for a long time. It wasn't until I discovered a hackathon and learned about AI tools like Bolt AI that I realized this project could finally become a reality.

With guidance from AI, I was able to turn my concept into a working prototype. The AI filled in the technical gaps I couldn’t bridge alone, helping me structure the app, write the necessary code, and simulate real-world scenarios.

## Challenges

Building this project from scratch with little to no coding experience came with many challenges, including:

  1. Access to Weather Data:
For the system to be truly functional, it needs reliable weather information from trusted meteorological sources. Due to limitations, real-time weather integration was not fully implemented and had to be simulated.

  2. Sensor & Meter Data Requirements:
The project depends on real-time data from physical sensors and energy meters to provide accurate insights. However, due to financial constraints, I had to simulate these readings instead of using actual hardware.

  3. Technical Errors & Debugging:
Encountering deep programming errors without the skills to resolve them was a constant roadblock. I relied entirely on Bolt AI to troubleshoot and guide me through every obstacle, from backend logic to UI issues.

Despite these hurdles, the project now stands as a promising prototype. For full deployment, it will require access to live sensor data and weather feeds, which I hope to secure with additional support.
